The History of Hello Kitty
This little white
kitten was created by the Sanrio company in 1974 as a greeting card.
Sanrio quickly
expanded the use of the brand into merchandising and fashion.
Because of her longevity and cuteness, Hello Kitty is popular with
both adults and children.
Kitty's
appeal is trans-cultural and is almost as beloved in Europe and North
America as in Japan. In Japan, however, Kitty has that high level
of recognition and appeal that Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse has.
Since being created over 30 years ago, Hello Kitty's face and body
have come to adorn many products. You can find clothing, electronics,
school supplies, party supplies, and even wedding themes all based
on this adorable little cat.
